NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- A retired Norfolk employee faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to taking bribes from a city plumbing contractor.
Media outlets report that 66-year-old Michael D. Brown also faces a $250,000 fine. He's scheduled to be sentenced July 23.
Brown pleaded guilty Friday in federal court in Norfolk to one bribery count.
According to court documents, he received between $15,000 and $20,000 in cash, goods and services from Andrew Zoby Jr., the owner of A.T. Zoby Mechanical Inc. In exchange, Brown gave Zoby preferential treatment regarding city contracts and work orders.
Brown retired in 2011.
Zoby pleaded guilty earlier this month to bribing two city workers. He also faces up to 10 years in prison. His sentencing is set for July 10.
