GALAX, Va. (AP) -- Organizers of the annual Old Fiddler's Convention in Galax say they've set a world record for the largest ensemble of mandolins.

WDBJ-TV (http://bit.ly/OKe0Gs) says mandolin players gathered for the record attempt Tuesday afternoon.

The existing record of 383 mandolin players was set in Germany on July 18, 2005.

Officials say they had enough people playing the mandolin Tuesday, but the record still must be confirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records.
