Police ID Va Man Killed after Shooting at Officers

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (AP) -- A man who was killed after he shot at police officers has been identified.

Virginia State Police tell media outlets that 41-year-old Robert Kevin Hughes of Christiansburg died at the scene following the exchange of gunfire.

Police say officers with the Montgomery Sheriff's Office and the Christiansburg Police Department were attempting to serve a felony drug warrant on Wednesday when Hughes ran out of the residence and fired a pistol at them.

The shooting occurred at a residence on Ridgeway Drive in Montgomery County.
