CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -- Charlottesville is marking its 250th anniversary with a time capsule.
Media outlets report that the time capsule was sealed Sunday during a ceremony outside the Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society's downtown headquarters.
Items placed in the time capsule include letters to future residents from U.S. Sen. Mark Warner and City Manager Maurice Jones, public school yearbooks, and messages from residents.
The time capsule will remain locked inside the historical society's headquarters until the city's 300th anniversary.
Charlottesville wraps up a yearlong celebration of its 250th anniversary on New Year's Eve.
