RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Newly released data show that interests for a coalition lobbying for repeal of a Virginia law banning uranium mining plied state legislators with nearly $140,000 in campaign contributions since and almost that much in gifts.

Records compiled by the nonprofit and nonpartisan Virginia Public Access Project show that Senate Democratic Leader Richard Saslaw, a powerful supporter of ending the ban, got nearly $15,000 in contributions for his political action committee.

Fifteen legislators the past two years accepted gifts from the monied consortium with total values topping $10,000 or more for nine lawmakers.
