Waynesboro Gets Grant for Greenway Project

WAYNESBORO, Va. (AP) -- Waynesboro is getting more than $400,000 from the state to expand a bike and pedestrian pathway.

The grant from the Virginia Department of Transportation will be used to expand the city's Greenway project from Constitution Park to North Park.

The $424,574 grant requires the city to provide 20 percent in matching funds. The grant is funded with federal transportation enhancement money.

The first 1-mile section of the pathway opened earlier this year. When completed, the pathway will link downtown with the South River.
