Due to the bad weather Thursday, all area schools closed, including James Madison University. Classes were let out around 9:30 a.m.
If there were any tears shed on campus after the closing, they were likely the crocodile variety.
JMU sophomore David Tashner says, "Well I woke up at like 5 o'clock and figured it would be snowing by then and it wasn't. So then when I finally woke up and looked outside, it was snowing. I was pretty pumped up. My roommates went to class but I didn't have class for a while so I just stuck around the house hoping it would get canceled and it did."
He says he plans to go snowboarding Thursday or play a little backyard football with friends at Purcell Park.
