The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in parts of Hanover, New Kent and King William counties as severe thunderstorms rolled through the area on Sunday.

Another twister damaged a Frederick County farm Sunday night.

Weather service crews assessed the damage Monday, and said a twister with winds in the 40-to-72-mile-per-hour range caused damage along a four-mile path in Hanover County on Sunday. No one was injured.

The tornado continued through parts of New Kent and King William. And a second funnel cloud touched down in King William later in the day.

The National Weather Service in Sterling confirmed on Monday that a small tornado damaged buildings and trees on a farm near Middletown Sunday night.
