Saturday's storms wreaked havoc in the town of Elkton. Mayor Wayne Printz says that one of the town's transformers was damaged, and the town was without power for most of the night.

There were several reports of damage, including large trees downed. Printz also reported a roof near F Street was nearly lifted off the house. He says it definitely was a storm unlike any they've ever witnessed before.

"From the people that I talked to, I think that they were very afraid and very surprised at the devastation and the damage and the potential power of a storm like this that we have never really had," says Printz. "I was all over through town and people were hugging and people were scared and they were consoling each other."

Printz says the city will surely do their part in cleaning the damage that remains. This storm has not yet been confirmed as a tornado. That decision has to be made by the National Weather Service. So far there have been no reports of death or injury.

People are so quick to criticize about what the police departments DONT do, next time when you or your familys in need call someone else if they arent good enough. If your that ignorant to go out in such a bad storm then find your own way around. Did it ever occur that officers were taking other calls at that time? Have you ever stopped to think that the regular call volume that comes in came to a complete halt just because there is a storm? NO! Does anyone ever take in consideration that, that is our husband and wives putting their lives on the line for such selfish people. Now days people need to step up to the plate and raise your own children instead of depending on our law enforement personnel to raise them for you. Remember next time when you children is making the loop in Elkton, whos keeping them safe? Next time you want to criticize someone took a long look in the mirror and think again.

I was driving down from Harrisonburg to Elkton when it started and it was really bad. It was like nothing I'd ever seen before. I had to take a lot of back roads to get to shenendoah because of all the downed trees, debree, and high water in the middle of the road. Visability was maybe 2 cars infront of you. Honestly, I'm suprised a tornado didn't touch down.

I was very upset that there was no Elkton Police dept doing traffic control at the traffic lights in Elkton. When it became dark out last night it was terrible in the town limits with traffic control.Cars where going everywhere and no one knew who to let go through the lights or anythhing .At least they could have put ot flares to warn people to slow down or even better should have called out more resources which wasnt down for the police as I didnt see any other then one keep riding around town.I would even had the town crew put up something or had them assist.I glad the storm wasnt worse then what it was or Elkton could be in trouble.I think it might be a good idea for Elkton to have a drill to get experience with this kind of stuff just in case it happens again. When there is no lights on and the town is pitch dark there is a time for crime in the town and I hope that I see more Elkton PD on the streets if this happens again.
