Meteorologists say we could see some effects from the remnants of Tropical Storm Fay, including flash flooding, and local fire and rescue departments are prepared.

The Rockingham Swiftwater Rescue program is equipped to help those who may need a water rescue. The boat, dive truck, and rescue workers are periodically checked.

If the potentially heavy rain brings standing water to your area, Capt. Woody Brown, Rockingham County Fire and Rescue, says, "If you would become stranded, stay in your vehicle. Don't get out of your vehicle. Anywhere in Rockingham County, we can be there within 15 to 30 minutes, based on the area. So we are coming."

Rockingham County Fire and Rescue also uses the Swiftwater Rescue boat for emergencies, such as drownings.
