More than 1,200 West Virginia customers remained without power a day after the remnants of Hurricane Ike moved through the state.

Appalachian Power Co.'s Web site showed that 966 customers in the Mountain State were without power Monday morning, down from more than 9,000 the night before. The remaining outages were in Wayne, Cabell and Mingo counties.

Allegheny Power was reporting 297 active cases Monday morning. More than 5,000 were without power Sunday.

Weekend readings in the upper 80s and lower 90s were expected to give way to highs in the lower to mid-70s Monday. No major rainfall was expected.
