Put away the shorts and sandals and dig out the sweaters. Wintry weather is returning to parts of West Virginia.

Put away the shorts and sandals and dig out the sweaters. Wintry weather is returning to parts of West Virginia.

Winter weather advisories are in effect for Fayette, Nicholas, Webster, Pocahontas and Randolph counties from 4 p.m. Monday until 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Pendleton, Grant and Mineral counties are under winter weather advisories from midnight Monday until 8 a.m. Wednesday. An advisory also is in effect for elevations about 2,500 feet in Greenbrier County from Monday evening until 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The National Weather service says up to five inches of snow could fall in elevations above 2,000 feet.

Freeze warnings are in effect from 1 a.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Tuesday for Wayne, Cabell, Mason, Lincoln, Putnam, Kanawha, Mingo, Logan, Boone, Pleasants, Tyler, Roane, Wirt, Calhoun and Ritchie counties.
