Some Eastern Mennonite University students are taking part in growing vegetables for the school's cafeteria.
Everything from lettuce and spinach to tomatoes, peppers, squash and cantaloupe are in the garden. They've even planted a grape vineyard.
EMU's Creation Care Council says this is a way to take part in a movement for sustainable growth in the local community.
The council also says this is a model for anyone looking to save money on their food bill.
"It is the cost of seeds and some fertilizer, but then nature does the work for you. You know, it's rain and sun, and much cheaper than going to the supermarket," says Kaitlin Heatwole, of EMU's Creation Care Council.
The growing season has just begun with the arrival of spring.
