Dry, windy conditions and low humidity have increased the threat of wildfires in West Virginia.

Most of the state was under a hazardous weather advisory Monday. The threat was expected to ease Tuesday.

The National Weather Service said any type of open burning was dangerous. The weather service also urged residents to be careful while operating equipment or smoking in wooded areas.

Wind gusts of up to 25 miles per hour were expected in some areas.
