Some Severe Storms Move Through Valley

Parts of the Valley were put under severe weather warnings Monday evening as strong storms popped up in the area.

Parts of the Valley were put under severe weather warnings Monday evening as strong storms popped up in the area.

A first Severe Thunderstorm Warning covered parts of Rockingham and Augusta counties until 7:30 p.m.

A second Severe Thunderstorm Warning also covered parts of Rockingham and Augusta counties but also covered Albemarle and Greene counties until 8:15 p.m.

The series of warnings continued with a third one that was issued for Rockingham, Albemarle, Orange and Madison counties until 8:45. A fourth warning was also issued covering Rockingham, Page, Greene and Madison counties until 9 p.m.

There is a possibility of strong thunderstorms popping up in the afternoon and evening hours throughout most of the week. There could be high winds, heavy downpours and damaging hail.

I live in Port Republic, what a mess to clean up this morning. Last night was horrible it felt like it kept coming and coming. As soon as you thought it was done there was more lightning with rain and hail to follow.

Storms were very servere in some areas. A group of us just happened to be kayaking durning these storms. Started at port republic put in area and onlly an hour later we had to get out and wait out the hail, high winds, and very cold downpour. Everyone made it out fine, but was quite an adventure
