Residents in Page County are reaching out to an emergency call notification service after an EF-1 tornado ripped through Stanley last week.
More than 2,000 residents are signed up for the service, which is called called CodeRED, and the county wants everyone to take advantage of it.
Emergency officials in Page County say several hundred people have joined the CodeRED service ever since the tornado destroyed a home on Pond Avenue. The system even helped prepare residents during Tuesday night's storm.
Gene Stewart, the Emergency Services Coordinator for the county, says, "People who lived in the northern end of the county received a thunderstorm warning. Most people in the general area of Stanley where people actually saw the rotation, they received the tornado warning."
Stewart says the phone notification system isn't just for severe weather warnings. It's also for an assortment of emergency warnings, such as a missing child, water contamination or utility outage.
To sign up, visit the Page County website or call 540-843-3357.

Thank God Page County has this service. It is invaluable and I'm so very glad I've signed up for it. All the residents should sign up for it too.
They should get it. It's amazing how a "weak", for say, tornado can cause so much damage.
