You've probably seen those pesky house flies everywhere. It's an invasion of sorts.
They're on your food, in your car, in your garbage, but mostly, on the farm. There just seems to be more flies than usual this year.
Experts say the rainfall is to blame.
"These condition keep things like garbage, dead animals and manure moist, and that enhances the life cycle of the fly. It keeps the food material moist for a longer period of time," says Eric Day, Virginia Tech Department of Entomology.
Day also says the fly population may decrease if we experience dry weather this summer or cold weather in the fall.
