Records may be broken in the Harrisonburg area Monday.
The winter season for 2009-2010 may be the snowiest season in Harrisonburg area's history. If the area gets one tenth of an inch more snow Monday, it will break the record for the most snowfall in written history.
Here is an entry from Daybreak Meteorologist, Mallory Brooke's blog.

Now that the snow has tapered off and moved out to sea (except for the western slopes of the higher elevations), we can talk about records. All three major DC Metro area airports - IAD, DCA, BWI - are hitting the record books this winter. While we still have over a month to go before the official start of spring, all three airports are now in their snowiest season ever recorded.
Of course, reporting sites all over the Valley differ in their records and have also differed greatly in snowfall amounts this winter. Our George Hirschmann spoke with Richard Weaver (Dale Enterprise weather station), and Weaver mentioned that 53 inches is the highest recorded seasonal snowfall. WHSV in Harrisonburg is currently at 53 inches for the season. Our weather watcher Carl Quintrell in Stanley, Virginia has reported 60.1 inches so far this winter, with his all time record season snowfall total of 67 inches set back in the 1995-1996 season.
With more snow in the forecast for President's Day, many Valley weather stations will be shattering records as well. If you're about to shatter snowfall records at your house, please comment and let us know.
