An intense heat wave is making its way across the mid-Atlantic region, and officials are warning residents and visitors to remain cool and hydrated.
Emergency officials say people should limit time outdoors if possible as the temperature rises from late morning Wednesday to the afternoon.
Residents are also encouraged to drink fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms and avoid outdoor work.
The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory and says temperatures will be in the middle to upper 90s.
