FEMA Denies Tornado Recovery Assistance to Virginia

The Federal Emergency Management Agency denied all three appeals for federal assistance to help victims recover from 34 tornadoes that hit Virginia in April.

Governor Bob McDonnell appealed last month, asking the agency to reconsider and grant assistance to Halifax, Pulaski and Washington counties.

FEMA denied the appeals, but McDonnell said his office would pursue assistance from the Small Business Administration.
