ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va -- People are still dealing with the aftermath from the storm that hit on June 29th. You can get help if you still need it.

More than a month after the June 19th storm, some neighbors already made the necessary repairs, but for those who still see the damage at their home, there is some help available.

“For the person that's still struggling to figure out how they're gonna fix that roof, how they're gonna make the repairs, because they've looked at the resources they have and they have exhausted them, this might be the thing that helps them make the final repairs,” said Harrisonburg-Rockingham Social Services Director Don Driver.

Driver said those people can ask for assistance as part of the Rockingham-Harrisonburg Disaster Task Force. It is a group of local organizations and non-profits that help people get back on their feet after a disaster.

That means if your house is still damaged after the storm and you do not have a stove, fridge or table you might be eligible for some help.

“We don't think there's gonna be a lot. But certainly anyone who is suffering in these struggling times for you to put the pieces back together, that's definitely significant to them."

The task force can help you find a contractor that can fix your home at a cost within your budget. They can also help you pay for the work and volunteer their time to finish up the repairs.

“Bottom line is how we help our citizens recover as much as possible before the storm hit."

Other organizations like Salvation Army and Red Cross help out with disaster relief.
