The brutally hot temperatures the Valley is experiencing right now can also put your car in danger of breaking down.

Mechanics say your car has to work extra hard to keep up in these extremely hot temperatures.

Some of the most common problems are with air conditioning in cars, especially with people complaining that the air coming out doesn't feel as cool as it normally does.

However, the biggest concerns are under the hood with belts and hoses that can crack or break in heat.

Mechanic Robby Shafer says, "The biggest problem is probably your belts and hoses. They're under more stress in extreme temperatures and are more likely to crack or bust when the heat is as high as it is."

Shafer expects that he'll see several more cars in his shop this week thanks to the hot weather.
