Residents in parts of Virginia and West Virginia are being warned to cover up their tender vegetation outdoors.

The National Weather Service has issued a frost advisory for early Thursday in valley areas of 16 counties in Virginia. The advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m.

NWS has issued a frost advisory for most of West Virginia for early Thursday.

Freeze warnings are also in effect for in Greenbrier, Pocahontas, Randolph, Webster, Pendleton and Highland counties.

The weather service says temperatures will dip into the mid- to upper 30s, meaning tender crops will be damaged if left unprotected outdoors.
