Potomac River Running High After Rainfall

The National Weather Service is predicting flooding along the Potomac River after two days of rain.

The agency said Wednesday that moderate flooding will occur overnight at Paw Paw, West Virginia and all day Thursday at Point of Rocks.

Minor flooding is expected Thursday at Williamsport and Thursday night at Little Falls.

Maryland Natural Resources Police say boaters and anglers should avoid the upper Potomac River through Friday because of hazardous water levels.

The advisory covers the entire main stem of the upper Potomac from Cumberland to Little Falls.

Natural Resources Police say hazardous conditions may also exist on tributaries of the Potomac.
