Several Tied or Broken Records Across VA

Several record high temperatures have been set across Virginia as a heat wave gripped the state.

The National Weather Service says the thermometer hit 96 degrees Tuesday afternoon in Roanoke, breaking the city's record for May 31 of 94 degrees set in 1918.

In Blacksburg, the reading of 92 degrees broke the record of 88 set in 1969.

Richmond tied the record of 98 degrees set in 1991.
