Updates from Gov. McDonnell Press Conference

Governor Bob McDonnell, Virginia emergency management personnel and representatives from Dominion Power will hold a press briefing on damage from storms in Virginia last night and recovery efforts today, Saturday, June 30 at 11:30 a.m. The briefing will take place at the Virginia Emergency Operations Center in Richmond.

Update from @DomVAPower: This will be a multi-day restoration effort, very much like a hurricane restoration. 12:34 p.m.

Governor asks Virginians to help their neighbors, reach out, offer aid. Find shelters in your jurisdiction. 11:50 a.m.

There is also a chance of another line of severe storms hitting Virginia in coming days, which could hamper recovery efforts 11:48 a.m.

Major concern is the heat, with highs from the upper 90's to 100's today and tomorrow, continuing in to next week. 11:45 a.m.

This is the largest non-hurricane power outage in Virginia history, ~2.5M people w/o power. 11:46 a.m.

Governor has declared a state of emergency this morning. 11:45 a.m.
