It's been open for more than a week and includes 120 beds, but a long-awaited veterans nursing home in Clarksburg still has only eight residents.
State Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety spokesman Joe Thornton says officials want to take their time to make sure they're doing everything right.
The West Virginia Veterans Nursing Home will undergo a follow-up inspection by the state Office of Health Facility Licensure and Certification before taking any more residents.
Another required federal inspection by will be done after 12 patients have been accepted.
Thornton says about 200 veterans that meet the requirements to live there have been identified.
The $26 million facility accepted its first two residents on November 9 and Thornton says about 20 should be moved in by the year's end.
The nursing home originally was expected to be completed in 2005. Its opening was pushed back several times for various reasons, including communications system and air control problems.
Thornton says the heating and air conditioning unit still isn't up to par but contractors are working to fix it.
