The mother of Rich Rodriguez says her family has been harassed and threatened in the weeks since her son resigned as WVU football coach.

Arleen Rodriguez says her grandson found threatening notes on his locker at East Fairmont High School, and her 12-year-old granddaughter had to be escorted to classes.

She says angry fans also vandalized her son's home near Morgantown, hanging signs on a fence and tossing a mailbox in the yard. Mrs. Rodriguez says it's upsetting to think that after seven years in Morgantown, people now consider her son garbage.

The backlash has been even more venomous on the Facebook social networking site, where dozens of groups have formed to rage against Rodriguez.

Arleen Rodriguez says her son hadn't planned to leave, was renovating his home and struggled with the decision.

Several wealthy football boosters claim there was behind-the-scenes tension between Rodriguez and the WVU administration, but the coach has yet to publicly discuss that.

His mother, however, says he didn't feel wanted anymore.

It's sad that the only two comments previous to this are supportive of this harassment. Easy to see why RR would want to leave for a better job
