State Veteran's Affairs Director Larry Linch says 75 percent of the problems noted in a surprise inspection of West Virginia's new veterans home have been corrected.
He says some of the things noted in last week's inspection, which the Clarksburg facility failed, were corrected on site, right away. Many were minor issues, such as not having enough mats near showers.
The latest inspection is the second time the 120-bed nursing home has received failing marks from the state Office of Health Facility Licensure and Certification this year.
Linch says the home has not accepted any more residents since it opened in November with eight veterans.
The state licensing office has ten business days to prepare a final inspection report and return it to the nursing home. Then the nursing home will have ten business days to return a corrective action plan.
Linch couldn't say when the nursing home would be ready to begin accepting more residents. After the state review is finished, the home must be reviewed by federal veterans officials.
