Two defendants in a Logan County torture case have received the maximum sentences possible.

Forty-six-year-old Karen Burton and 49-year-old Frankie Brewster were sentenced Thursday morning for their roles in the kidnapping, sexual assault and assault of Charleston resident Megan Williams.

Burton received three consecutive sentences for malicious assault, assault during the commission of a felony and violation of civil rights that could net her up to 30 years in prison.

Brewster was sentenced for second-degree sexual assault, which carries a ten-to-25-year prison sentence.

Authorities say Williams was held captive for days at Brewster's trailer in Big Creek last summer. They say that in addition to the beatings and sexual assault, she was forced to eat animal feces and stabbed.

Williams was rescued September 8 after an anonymous caller alerted authorities. Williams and her parents wept and comforted one another in the courtroom.
