Fallout from the Heather Bresch affair is likely to continue Monday, as the West Virginia University campus deals with the announcement that Provost Gerald Lang and Dean R. Stephen Sears are resigning.

The dean of West Virginia University's College of Business and Economics' resignation was announced Monday. A resignation memo that Lang sent Sunday will be distributed on campus Monday. In the memo, Lang said he's resigning after 32 years at WVU because of criticism of his role in awarding a degree to Bresch, who is Governor Manchin's daughter.

On top of that the Faculty Senate's Executive Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, partly to discuss the Bresch affair. Last week, Faculty Senate Chairman Steve Kite said the group would wait for WVU President Mike Garrison before calling for any disciplinary action.

But with Lang and Sears having resigned, attention may now turn to other officials criticized by the independent panel that investigated the awarding of the degree.

A number of professors have also called for Garrison to resign.
