West Virginia University President Mike Garrison says he understands the feelings of faculty members who want him to resign.
But Garrison told The Associated Press that he's got a lot of work left to do at WVU. He says he intends to keep moving forward.
The Faculty Senate declared no confidence in Garrison Monday and demanded he resign.
The senate's vote stems from an independent panel's conclusion that WVU administrators gave Mylan Incorporated executive Heather Bresch an executive master's of business administration degree she didn't earn. Bresch is Governor Manchin's daughter.
Garrison says he remains committed to the tasks he was hired for, from raising salaries to strengthening research endeavors. He also says he's not concerned about a long-term impact on donations.
