Most of the attention is on the presidential race, but West Virginia's primary election will also determine the fate of homegrown candidates for federal office.

With analysts predicting a robust year for Democrats, three candidates are vying Tuesday for the chance to challenge Republican Representative Shelley Moore Capito in November.

Anne Barth is competing with former South Charleston Mayor Richie Robb and South Charleston lawyer Thornton Cooper for the nomination. Barth is a former aide to U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd.

On the Senate side, four-term incumbent Jay Rockefeller faces challengers Sheirl Fletcher and Billy Hendricks Jr.

Fletcher is a former member of the House of Delegates and Hendricks is running to draw attention to issues like term limits.
