The West Virginia Democratic Party is criticizing presidential candidate John McCain for keeping his appearance in the Mountain State Friday a private affair.
The party suggests that the Arizona senator has an anti-West Virginia record he wants to hide from. McCain's meet and greet, which is closed to the public, is at the St. Albans Gun & Archery store in St. Albans.
The stop makes the Republican's first in the Mountain State since he launched his White House bid.
He did not attend the West Virginia Republican Party's February convention for presidential candidates, but has since gone on to become the GOP's presumptive nominee.
McCain last toured the state to stump for Republican presidential candidates in 2006.
The state Democratic Party opposes McCain's stance on natural disaster response and prevention programs in the state, and his health care plan, among other things.
