Gov. Joe Manchin says Tri-State Racetrack & Gaming Center owes the public an explanation of why it's taking so long to launch the table games for which they fought so hard.
Voters in Kanawha County approved the games last fall after a divisive campaign, but Tri-State has yet to launch poker, craps and blackjack.
Nor has the company broken ground on a promised $250 million expansion or begun creating the promised 1,000 jobs.
Manchin says the track owners ought to be upfront and truthful about their time lines.
Dan Adkins, vice president of Michigan-based Hartman & Tyner, Tri-State's parent, has not responded to requests for comment this week.
Manchin says Tri-State's schedule is so intertwined with public policy, the people have the right to know what's going on.
