West Virginia is the nation's second largest coal producing state but an environmental group says it's time to think about wind.

Coal River Mountain Watch launched an Internet campaign Tuesday that seeks to encourage Massey Energy to stop plans to create a mountaintop removal mine on Coal River Mountain in southern West Virginia.

The group says the ridges would be put to greater use if they were developed as a wind farm than if they were mined for coal.

A study commissioned by the group suggests that up to 220 wind turbines could be placed along the mountain's ridges to produce enough energy for 150,000 homes.
