A Pittsburgh-area storage company is recalling kerosene in parts of West Virginia, Pennsylvania and two other states because of concerns it might contain gasoline and be explosive.
Pittsburgh Terminals Corp., of Coraopolis, says people in western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, northern West Virginia and southwestern New York should return any kerosene they have purchased since May 1.
Dealers are being notified if their supply was affected and will replace the fuel or offer refunds.
The company says the problem was caused by a malfunctioning valve that has been fixed.
The company distributes kerosene for 37 suppliers. Some of those supplies have been found safe, but others have yet to be tested which is why the wide recall is in effect.
