Nine years after its creation, the Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute is getting a new home.

Officials plan to dedicate a state-of-the-art research facility on West Virginia University's campus on October 16. The $30-million building will feature laboratory space and research facilities to support the work of nearly 100 scientists and researchers.

Founded in 1999, the institute is named in honor of U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller's mother, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease.

The nonprofit institute studies human memory and memory disorders.

As part of the dedication, the institute will hold an international forum on Alzheimer's, memory disorders and aging.
