US WindForce says it still plans to develop a 23-turbine wind farm on a Mineral County ridge top.

WindForce Vice President for Development James Cookman say the company hopes to submit a permit application to the state Public Service Commission by December.

Cookman says the company hopes to start construction of the Green Mountain project by early 2010.

The project is expected to generate 72 megawatts of electricity a year. That's enough to power 21,000 homes.

US WindForce has been holding a series of meetings in Mineral County to create local support for the wind farm.

It plans to hold a meeting next month to discuss a community fund it plans to create for civic projects in Mineral County.
