At least three hunters have died and five others were injured Monday, the opening of West Virginia's gun season for bucks.
State Division of Natural Resources spokesman Hoy Murphy says a 70-year-old man was killed while hunting in Ritchie County when he lost control of his all-terrain vehicle and it rolled over on top of him.
A 37-year-old Texas man was also killed today after being overcome by carbon monoxide from a lantern inside a trailer he and another hunter was using.
The other hunter, a 38-year-old Pennsylvania man, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.
The third death occurred in Marshall County, where the Sheriff's Department says a hunter's body was found in the woods. They believe he died of natural causes.
Authorities are withholding all the names of the hunters until their families can be notified.
Also Monday, three hunters in Putnam County were treated for carbon monoxide poisoning after being overcome by the fumes inside a camper they were using.
Finally, a 13-year-old boy hunting in Clay County accidentally shot himself in the arm Monday.
Murphy says the boy's condition was stable at the scene, and he was taken to a Charleston hospital for further treatment.
