A man charged with killing his girlfriend at a Taco Bell has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.
Desmond Clark pleaded guilty in Kanawha County Circuit Court on Monday, the day his trial was set to start in the shooting of Nalisha Gravely.
The 22-year-old Clark was accused of chasing the 19-year-old Gravely into a Taco Bell on Charleston's West Side and shooting her on July 5.
Sentencing has been set for June 2.
The case provoked outcry over how the state handles domestic violence cases. At the time, Clark was subject to a protective order requiring that he have no contact with Gravely.
