More than 50 Steel of West Virginia workers will be out of work by the end of November.
President Tim Duke says the layoffs of 53 workers will leave the company with about 300 employees.
Duke attributed the layoffs to a weak economy and a slowdown of construction and highway projects during the winter.
Duke says laid-off workers will be recalled when business picks up.
The Huntington company makes steel products for the automotive industry, guard rails for the interstates, parts for fork lifts and for mine rails, and other custom steel products.
