The Kanawha County Parks and Recreation Board has agreed to pay a $6,080 fine to settle a state citation alleging water pollution violations.
The state Department of Environmental Protection said inspectors found an illegal dump at the site of construction of a driving range at Coonskin Park.
Board vice chairwoman Anna Dailey said Wednesday the board admitted no wrongdoing as part of the settlement. She says it was cheaper to settle than to challenge the citation in court.
