Marshall University wants to crack down on unlicensed merchandise featuring the school's name and athletic logos.

University officials and the Collegiate Licensing Company will be working with local law enforcement officials to patrol the marketplace in search of counterfeit shirts, hats and other items. These knockoff products are subject to seizure.

Royalties generated through the sale of Thundering Herd merchandise go back to Marshall for university development opportunities.

Marshall fans are advised to look for certain characteristics when buying merchandise. Those characteristics include the Officially Licensed Collegiate Product hologram, in tact tags and appropriate trademark designations next to a specific name or design.

To report a product that you believe is unlicensed, go online to the Collegiate Licensing Company website and click on 'Report Infringers' under Resources.
