Dukes carry momentum into NCAA Tournament
HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - The James Madison women’s lacrosse team carries momentum into the NCAA Tournament.
The Dukes won their fourth straight CAA Championship this past Sunday and have won six consecutive games overall as they prepare for an opening-round matchup against Johns Hopkins in the NCAA Tournament.
“I think we feel very confident,” said JMU redshirt freshman attacker Isabella Peterson. “We are peaking at the right time. I think our connections are growing.”
JMU is 11-4 overall but the Dukes struggled at times earlier this spring with losses to unranked Elon and Hofstra squads. James Madison lost three of four games before beginning its current winning streak.
“I have never seen a team work through what they have worked through this year and to see them come together and be stronger for it,” said JMU head coach Shelley Klaes. “I think it just shows what great chemistry this group has.”
JMU and Johns Hopkins are scheduled to play at 5 p.m. Friday in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
