(WHSV) - The weekly U.S. drought monitor came out Thursday and has now put Page, Rockingham, and Augusta County under a moderate drought. This includes Harrisonburg, Staunton, and Waynesboro.

A dry spring in our viewing area allowed this to happen. Since 1893, Dale Enterprise has been keeping weather records. This past spring was the 18th driest spring. Typically, Dale Enterprise averages about 9.3 inches of rain and in 2021, only received 6.45 inches.

Staunton also had a top 20 driest spring ranking 12th, while Woodstock’s ranks 9th.

All of these locations recorded their driest spring since 2006.

For the summer, the area is forecasted to have a slightly above average season for rainfall.
