HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - The James Madison softball team received a warm and loud welcome home Tuesday in Harrisonburg.

According to a JMU spokesperson, between 800 and 1,000 fans were onsite at Memorial Hall to cheer the Dukes on when they got off the bus following their flight back from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. JMU made national news by becoming the first unseeded team to win its first two games at the Women’s College World Series when the Dukes knocked off No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 5 Oklahoma State on consecutive days this past Thursday and Friday.

James Madison came up just short of the WCWS Finals after suffering back-to-back losses to Oklahoma on Sunday and Monday. The Dukes finished the 2021 season with a 41-4 overall record.
