STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) - Staunton City Schools (SCS) took to Facebook to announce the district is seeking public comment on its plan under the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) fund.

The Virginia Department of Education has allocated to SCS approximately $6.26 million of ARP ESSER funding.

SCS is asking for input from the public on how funds should be used to assist the school division in mitigating the effects of COVID-19 on teaching and learning.

SCS says commenters may wish to provide input on how students’ academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs should be addressed, particularly for student groups who they say have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic.

Public comment should be provided through this Google form. Responses will be accepted through July 14, 2021. Input will inform the development of SCS’ ARP ESSER plan.
