Man dies after vehicle hit-and-run, suspected vehicle sought, VSP says

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - A man died after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday night on Parkersburg Turnpike, and the Virginia State Police say they are looking for the vehicle responsible.
The Virginia State Police (VSP) say a state trooper responded to a crash in Augusta County just before 10 p.m. on May 24, on Parkersburg Turnpike at Pine Tree Lane. A 42-year-old man was reportedly struck by a vehicle traveling east on Parkersburg Turnpike.
The striking vehicle then fled the scene, the VSP says.
According to the VSP, the vehicle in question is believed to be a maroon or red truck or SUV, and the vehicle will have damage to its right front headlight, front turn signal, and/or both.
The VSP confirmed the man died at the scene, and anyone with information about the suspect vehicle and/or its driver is encouraged to call the Virginia State Police at 434-352-7128 or #77 on a cell phone or by email at questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
The crash is still under investigation.
