JMU drops home opener in 2-0 shutout against Virginia Tech

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - James Madison women’s soccer was unable to secure a home opener win Sunday night, falling to Virginia Tech 2-0. Early goals by Samantha DeGuzman and Maysen Nelson put the Hokies ahead throughout the first half.
On the offensive end, JMU could only manage five shots, with senior Amanda Attanasi taking both shots on goal, while the Hokies’ defense would limit JMU to just one shot in the second half.
Now 1-1 on the season, JMU will next face La Salle at Sentara Park on August 22, with the match available for streaming on ESPN+
